Before leaving for Tuscany, we drove back to Quaglietta to take some final pictures of “the House”, the castle, and finally, the property that John Grasso now has ownership of. He has planted olive trees, and it actually looks pretty nice.

Danny said he would ring my cousins’ bell saying I was on the way!! JC said he would present a lease and demand the rightful change of ownership!! We had a good laugh.
Getting to our villa was a little dicey. We made a number of wrong turns and were getting frustrated. If we didn’t reach something familiar, we were going to call our contact to come and get us wherever we stopped. Fortunately, we arrived at the correct meeting place (La Castagna) and lead by our contact to the villa, La Belvedere. It is situated on a hilltop, between Florence and Siena, with panoramic vistas of the valley.

The house itself is spacious and the surrounding gardens with pool are spectacular!! There are bushes of rosemary and lavender and the genestra (broom plant) are everywhere with fragrances that knock you out!! By the time we got settled, it was getting late.

We ventured out for dinner, hoping to get down the mountain in the light. We found a nice place for dinner. It actually was the place we had stopped for directions earlier (Il Boscotondo). Danny and Lenny had the pigeon (tastes like chicken!) and we were all happy with our selection. When we got back to the villa (carefully), Danny made a fire and we let the stresses of the day drain away.
