Sunday June 27th, 2010

Today Chris and I got an early start to go up the campanile. We timed it so we’d be there on the hour, and would witness firsthand the ringing of the bells. It was great!!

Then it was onto 10:30 Mass at the cathedral of San Marco. Again, for all the times we’ve been here, we never attended mass. Fr Douglas concelebrated, and it was very special. I had forgotten how beautiful the interior of the church is. The mosaics are all in gold and quite spectacular to behold. We were met by Memo (Domenico) and his brother Antonio with his fiancée, Carmela. The boys are the sons of Franco in Terranova. We had a wonderful day with them. We went to dinner, strolled, shopped, laughed and I even teased Memo about setting him up with Lauren McGovern!!
We walked to the Rialto with them and said our goodbyes.

I really hope to see them again. Antonio and Carmela will be honeymooning in the states in August, so we told them to call us when in NY. We said we’d meet them wherever they are even if for just a cup of coffee.
We strolled near the Rialto and found the apartment we rented in '02. It was fun to test our memory.

Our walk continued and Chris and I continued to browse and shop. I hope that I can get a good wi-fi connection to complete our journeying. We've been in the dark ages since San G.
Hallelujah! It works!
After a brief respite, the remaining 5 of us went in search of yet another cena!! (just a small dish of pasta!!)! Then onto the piazza for an after dinner drink and a tartufo - It is our last "official" night, afterall!! The moon was full, and the music at Florian's delightful. The three orchestras were amazing and I was in flux as to where we should remain!! Florian won out - established in 1720 it was hard to believe it's almost 300 years old!!
Buono Notte tutti quando!!
