Returned the RV by 11, back in Denver, picked up a rental
car, and went back to our hotel. After
unloading all the bags and checking in, we rested briefly, then went out to the
Red Rock Amphitheatre. The drive was
about an hour, and we couldn’t believe how different the Rockies here seemed
after the thrill of the northern range! Three
weeks ago, we thought these were immense!
Not so much now! Anyhow, the area
of red rock is stunning to behold. It
was explained that the formation of these rocks is a mystery and that 1 billion
years are missing. I think it would be
incredible to see a live performance at this natural Amphitheatre. It’s first use as a venue was in 1910, and
has been used ever since. The list of the
performers is impressive. The Beatles
played there in 1964 during their US tour.
Other notables include: James Taylor,
Allman Brothers, the Go Go’s, Grateful Dead, Sting, Springsteen, Pearl Jam and
a ton of others. This Saturday there
will be a Mozart concert – wish I were around for that! Tonight, there will be a showing of one of
the Star War movies, as part of Film on the Rocks – pretty cool.
There was band doing
sound checks on the stage so we sat and listened for awhile. No one seemed to know who they were and Lenny
couldn’t find any info on the event schedule
When we arrived back at the hotel, the temperature was
100. I think it’s safe to say, we are
all looking forward to getting back home!
